An Original Linocut Print of Pachamama, Earth Goddess worshipped revered by the indigenous peoples of the Andes.
Handprinted by myself at my home studio in the Northeast of England, so everyone is slightly different and unique.
The process of a linocut print is quite lengthy. I digitally design most of my prints, these are then printed and transfered to a block for carving. Once carved the block is inked and printed to produce the final piece. Each edition is different but limited. This edition will be of 20 prints. Each print is titled and signed for authenticity and comes with a descriptive note about the mythology of the design.
 
Pachamama, translates Earth Mother. She is a fertility goddess revered by Incan people and is still an important feature of religion in Peru today. She protects the inhabitants of her land and nourishes them if balance can be maintained. She teaches the importance of harmony and respect for the Earth and its gifts and the belief that if we take too much, the Earth will fight back with natural disasters.   Gifts are regularly offered to her and this is  named pago a la tierra- payment to the earth. 
This linocut print is handprinted in beautiful thick black somerset printmakers paper, with Caligo gold printing ink.
