An Original Linocut Print of The Dryad

Hand printed by myself at my home studio in the Northeast of England, so everyone is slightly different and unique.

The Dryads of Greek mythology are the nymphs of the trees, groves and woodlands. They are most commonly known as the spirits or fairies of the oaks, poplars, pine and ash. This print was created as a short series on tree spirits of the seasons and this is the summer dryad. I’m dedicating this print to the Sycamore Gap, as she was felled on the same day I ran the edition. A donation of £5 from each sale will go directly to the Woodlands Trust and Northumberland National Park in honour of this beautiful ancient tree we have lost.

The process of a linocut print is quite lengthy. I digitally design most of my prints, these are then printed and transferred to a block for carving. Once carved the block is inked and printed to produce the final piece. Each edition is different but limited. This edition will be of 20 prints. Each print is titled and signed for authenticity and comes with a descriptive note about the mythology of the design.
