Goddess Hera | Original linocut print | Queen of Olympus

Hand printed by myself at my home studio in the Northeast of England, so everyone is slightly different and unique. A divine feminine linocut print of the Queen of Olympus, of ancient greek myths.

This is a jigsaw linocut print, which means each layer of colour has been separated and inked with colour and then printed together.

Greek Goddess Hera is a complex goddess. Villianised in most literature as a vengeful wife she was originally a powerful nature goddess and was worshipped as a mother goddess and protector of women. Childbirth, marriage and family, fertility and fidelity were her main attributes. She was tricked into marriage by Zeus, but even then tried to overthrow him many times. Unfortunately so little of her pre-hellenistic mythology has survived and what we are left with was of course written by men. A sacred female creator, earth and sun goddess, queen of the sky.

Specifications

Printed with caligo safewash ink on delicate nepalese mitsumata printmaking paper. This artwork is 26cm x 34cm and the paper size allows for the print to be mounted and framed as you desire. The print will arrive unframed, however I do frame prints on request, please message me with your requirements.
Your print will be carefully wrapped to ensure safe delivery. I am making the move to using post-consumer packaging to be more eco-friendly so it will practical and secure but perhaps not as pretty as before.
UK orders are being posted by either the Royal Mail or Evri, depending on the size of the print, for orders over £15 this will be by tracked delivery. For orders under £10 I use 2nd class post. International Delivery is most often with Royal Mail International Standard Delivery
