Discover Sheela Na Gig Altar Goddess, an Original Miniature Linocut Print.
Hand printed by myself at my home studio in the Northeast of England.
Sheela na Gig is an ancient pagan symbol, the carvings of her are found throughout the United Kingdom and Europe and are often carved in to spiritual places. Not much is know as to why they were carved with many believing they warded off evil and that they are a remnant of pre-christian mother goddess worship. I believe she represents the birth of the entire world and the miracle of life and death. To find out more, head over to The Goddess Directory
